Everyone in the hotel was friendly and I met them all. Really nice people. If you are looking for great home cooked food get to Halkirk tonight. I can't wait to go back!

I would have given a five star if not for the cheesecake. Really odd flavor and gummy texture, not to mention the aftertaste.

Lunch for me was a hamburger with bacon and cheese plus soup. OMG was that burger big and tasty (7.75$). The cook came out and told me that two patties were served and was that okay since she felt that one patty was just not enough. I indicated yes, however it ended up to big to eat with only one hand. The soup was awesome as well reminding me of chopped up beef in gravy with rice and more (perfect for me). My wife's meal was the chicken special of the day. Two chicken breasts and fries (7.75$) plus salad, which was enough for both of us.

Had lunch at the hotel today. Met Daryl, the owner, who provided a quick overview of the two year hiatus when the hotel was closed and view for the future. The bar was great and impressively well maintained almost to the point where you might think it was just built. The menu, however, reminded me that the hotel as it sits today was built in 1911. The point of our visit was lunch however a visit to the bar is needed.
